Recently I somehow managed to get work experience at
HarperCollins. Work experience at a publishers! A book publishers! A massive
book publishers I’ve actually heard of! Where they publish books! Did I mention
that I love books?
my way to Hammersmith (not an easy
feat I can tell you). I
arrived at the admittedly not so attractive building that houses the many
imprints of HarperCollins Publishers. I sneakily followed a couple of suited
individuals through the gated door trying to look inconspicuous and mature
rather than terrified and unbelievably excited. I had no idea what I would be
doing and I didn’t care so long as I was surrounded by books, working with
books and reading books.
Safe to say I had a fantastic week and learnt a lot about
publishing. I'm heading back there to do some more editorial work, rather than marketing based towards the end of the summer. But for now I'm still occupied with possibly the best thing I got out of the week: 11 free
books. FREE BOOKS! If you ever feel the need or desire to
gain my affections, free books is the way to go. (I do plan to one day have an
entire library –preferably one with a sliding ladder.)
